Picking up instead of shipping

Number My Boat cuts everything in Evansdale, Iowa, in Black Hawk County. It is a private workshop rather than a storefront, so there is no counter to walk up to and no address published here — but if you are local and would rather collect than wait on the post, email orders@numbermyboat.com before you order. We will set a time and tell you where to come. Hours are Mon-Fri 8-5 CT.

Towns we see most

Most of our local work comes off the Cedar River, George Wyth Lake, Big Woods Lake, Casey's Lake, Meyers Lake, the Wapsipinicon River, Hickory Hills Lake and Island Park. If you boat anywhere in Black Hawk County or the counties either side of it, you are a short drive away — but honestly, shipping is free and it arrives in a few days, so pickup is for people who are already passing or who need it today.

Iowa numbers, specifically

Iowa registration numbers are the prefix IA, four digits and two letters — IA 3717 ZW. Two things Iowa is particular about and a lot of out-of-state shops get wrong:

• The validation decal goes toward the stern of the number, 4 inches from it and in line with it.
• No other numbers may be displayed on either side of the bow — so the old set has to come off, not just get covered up.

Why a local shop sells nationwide

A plotter does not care where the boat is. We cut the same vinyl for a pontoon on the Cedar River as for a sportfish in Florida, and the post office does the rest. Being small is why your email is answered by the person who cut it, and why a mistake gets re-cut instead of argued about.
